Welcome to
Dalswinton Village Hall

About Our Hall

Our charming, recently refurbished village hall is located on the outskirts of a small village situated in beautiful countryside on the Dalswinton Estate.

Set back from a quiet country road, within a woodland setting, the hall is fronted by a large grassed area with a horseshoe shaped driveway.

In addition to the main entrance access is available via double doors which lead to a ramp for disabled access.

It`s just 20 minutes by road from Dumfries town centre and can be hired as the perfect venue for a variety of social functions and meetings. It can also be hired on a regular basis for social clubs etc.

Weddings

Image

Dalswinton village hall is the perfect location for a wedding with a difference because in addition to the hall the non denominational Barony church is just a two minute walk away.

There is a car park behind the church, in addition to the large car park beside the hall.

Built in 1881 the church is one of the few remaining examples of “tin” churches, popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The interior is timber offering a warmer and more intimate atmosphere for your special day than conventional stone churches.

Seating for 90 guests, complete with a small electric organ and magnificent stained glass windows, no-one can fail to be enchanted by this fairy tale church nestling in the woods. Perfect for after ceremony photos.

Hiring the hall for your wedding breakfast allows you to provide alcohol without the usual corkage charge, and if no charge is made for alcohol no licence is required.

There is room for a small marquee on the grassed area in front of the hall and the wooden base throughout the hall provides the perfect dance floor.

Fairy lights are hung from the ceiling to provide a fairy tale atmosphere.

The hall provides plenty of opportunities to stamp your own personality on how it is laid out and decorated for your big day.

A top quality sound system, which is bluetooth enabled, allows you to use your personal music playlist and the hand held microphone ensures everyone can hear the wedding speeches.

To ensure the comfort of your guests we would recommend a maximum capacity of 70 people.

Behind the hall is a secure storage room with power sockets and lighting in which items can be stored in advance of your wedding day.

There is a wide variety of accommodation available, from stylish hotels to country inns and everything in between, all within a 20 minute radius of the hall.

There are several golf courses nearby for your guests entertainment and a ten minute walk through the woods, directly opposite the hall, leads to the beautiful Dalswinton Loch.

Meetings

Image

With Wi-Fi the hall provides a novel, but practical, alternative venue for all types of meetings.

A range of table sizes allows the hall to be set up as a large, single work area, or for small groups.

Two large pump action vacuum flasks are available for tea and coffee, or for more substantial catering the kitchen is fitted with a cooker, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher.

If external catering is required a number of local catering companies are familiar with providing catering services to the hall.

When delegates take a brief break from a meeting the woodland path opposite the hall leads to the tranquil “Journey Garden”.

With a longer break attendees can enjoy a ten minute stroll through the woods which leads directly to the beautiful Dalswinton loch..
